Technology Coded printing technology: BitSecure by Schreiner Protection strategy Product authentication Type Covert or coded feature System Automatic Authentication Software authentication Medium Secondary packaging: box, labels Primary packaging: blister Authentication/Identificaton Authentication Traceability No Cost Price on request Required equipment A scanner: 2D barcode, flatbed scanner, camera phone + Bitsecure software or access to the BitSecure server system Vertification level stakeholders of the supply chain with the correct equipment N.B. Variable data (such as batch number and product expiration date) can be encrypted as well. Description A high-resolution random pattern is printed directly on the packaging (using various printing techniques), the pattern is scanned with a 2D barcode scanner, a flatbed scanner or even a camera cell phone. The authentication requires BitSecure software or secure access to the BitSecure server system in which the digital profile is stored. The minimum size amounts to a few square millimeters. Strengths The pattern is printed with the standard printing processes in high resolution): no additional production cost; Can be printed on different types of substrate (carton, paper, aluminum foil); No training needed; Impossible to copy (a copy is less precise and would not authenticate the product); Only a few square millimeters; Instant authentication; Cost effective; Limitations Do not guarantee product integrity or tamper evidence used by itself: pack can be refilled and reused; Need the appropriate software or access to the secure database; Links: http://www.schreiner-prosecure.com/index.php?id=2302&L=3
