Description The system consists of a magnetic, ultra-thin encoded thread and a corresponding sensor/reader. The thread is composed of a an alloy mixture of metals surrounded by a glass coating. Through the generation of a specific magnetic field the magnetic properties of the FluxSecure thread can be read using a sensor to verify the productâs authenticity (green/red response). The magnetic properties can be adjusted by varying the alloy as well as the thickness and length of the thread. The alloy mixtures can be custom-made and are not reproducible. Strengths Invisible; Can be easily integrated into existing products such as folding boxes, blister packs and may also e embedded into plastic products; Impossible to copy (alloy mixture customizable and not reproducible); Automatic authentication using a reader or sensor; Handheld reader without line of sight (even through heavy or metallic packaging materials); Limitations Do not guarantee product integrity or tamper evidence used by itself: pack can be refilled and reused; Person needs to know where to âreadâ the thread; Application for authentication only available for rights holders and authorities, not user verifiable for now; Cost; Links: http://www.schreiner-prosecure.com/index.php?id=2304&L=3
