Officials launched an investigation following a tip off that a gang was selling medicines to hospitals in east Delhi. A Delhi police team laid a trap for the traffickers and arrested several suspects. During questioning, one of the accused told the police that he/she was part of a big gang that supplies fake medicines to many countries. The accused also admitted to selling these medicines at cheaper rates through online forum IndiaMart.
