The Ministry of Health has reported that it worked on five operations between March and April 2019 to address the following:
– intercept dealers in medicines intended for public health facilities who aim to sell them to the private sector or export them to other countries;
– save tax payers’ money by stopping medicines being pilfered from public health facilities;
-n clamp down on a racket involved in the deliberate alteration/re-labeling of expired medicines and prevent said medicines from being used by the public;
– crack down on dealers in substandard and fake medicines.
At the end of the two months, 981 boxes of assorted medical items were impounded.
