A recent HealthforAnimals (a global veterinary medicine association) report has revealed that illegal veterinary medicine is distributed through a range of illicit channels such as suspicious websites, social media, e-commerce websites like Alibaba and street vendors. The report also states that fake veterinary medicines have been found in the legal supply chain in several parts of the world. The association estimates that this expanding black market is generating a yearly loss of $1 to $2bn for genuine medicine manufacturers.
