Before the summer, we launched the first interactive video about the dangers of purchasing online health products. IRACM has just launched the first falsified medicines video game. Nowadays, video games are used for more than just entertainment; participative video games, a mixture of entertainment and learning, serve as teaching supports for a frequently hyper-connected generation. IRACM’s video stars “Blake Cartel 2.0”. Players take on Blake’s persona, an undercover cop in a south-American drug trafficking cartel and Blake’s mission which is to uncover which type of new traffic the cartel has invested in to make more money. The only clue is that the new traffic is more lucrative, and less risky, than drug trafficking.

Against a tropical background, players have to solve puzzles, avoid traps and gather clues to arrest the traffickers. By taking on the undercover cop’s persona, players themselves become gang members and as the game progresses, gradually discover the hidden face of organized crime and the dangers of medicine falsification: products used in falsified tablet manufacturing, the types of falsified medicines and manufacturing conditions, etc. The counter-use teaching method helps players to understand the risks and mechanisms of this trafficking.

“Video games are not simply about watching a screen and guiding a character, they also require situation analysis and information processing. They can be considered as a type of teaching method. If, after only several minutes of fun, each player only remembers that medicine falsification exists and that they could come across it one day if they are not careful, then our video is a success!” Bernard Leroy, IRACM Director.

The video game is still available and has been uploaded almost 2000 times! It’s free and can be uploaded to smartphones via the Apple Store and

. Ideal for all ages!
