
A MarkMonitor survey of 4500 people from Great Britain, seven other major European countries, the US and China, has revealed that almost 30% of online consumers have been swindled when buying makeup, beauty products and medicine and may have put their lives at risk. Sixteen per cent of respondents said that they bought online medicines which turned out to be falsified. Thirty-four percent said they had experienced a bad reaction to the product, while 50% said they were alerted by bad quality. The survey results show that unintentional falsified health product purchases is highest in China, where 46% of consumers claim to have unintentionally purchased falsified products, followed by the Netherlands (28%) and Italy (27%).
