The FDA has officially announced that the Drug Supply Chain Security Act’s enforcement deadline has been delayed. This regulation stipulates that all medicines sold in the US must be marked with a product identifier, serial number, lot number and expiration date using a 2D datamatrix barcode. The FDA stated that it “does not intend to take action against manufacturers who do not affix a product identifier to their packages between November 27, 2017, and November 26, 2018.” This decision comes in response to meeting the deadline in terms of manufacturing.
