On 8 December, officials seized fake and expired medicines for human and animal use. The operation took place in a hangar belonging to a trader who sold the products at Bobo Dioulasso market. The seized and incinerated products, worth €76,000, included 85 different types of veterinary products (anti-parasite treatments, vaccines, antibiotics, vitamins and fortifying products) and illegally imported anti-inflammatories, stimulants, eye drops and ointments from Cameroon, Senegal, France, Holland, China and Spain. Officials have arrested the traffickers. The operation was launched following a tip-off from farmers and is part of the veterinary medicines market sanitation campaign which is currently running in several African countries.
