After procrastinating over various ministers’ responsibilities in the diabetes “miracle cure scandal”, Rahmet Rabi, (cf. article dated 7 December) the minister of Trade withdrew the food supplement from sale on 10 December. The product has been in circulation on the Algerian market for almost a year. However, the controversy continues as both health and trade ministers are refusing to accept responsibility and are both at fault: on the one hand, the health minister who publicly supported the miracle drug’s supposed doctor/founder (the latter turned out to be an impostor who manufactured a dangerous product which generated a major traffic); and on the other hand, the Trade minister who did not follow the required food supplement marketing processes. Various additional parties (doctors and pharmacists), who did not carry out their role as public safeguards, are also involved.
