According to the Spanish Association of Pharmaceutical Companies (Farmaindustria), the sector will invest €200m in order to comply to prescription medicines serialisation. This measure has been made compulsory as of February 2019 by means of the EU Directive 2011/62 on fake medicines. The association has urged the State to help finance the costs of this compulsory upgrade.
