Alert: Fake antibiotics and quinine sulphate in Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo -

Ecumenical Pharmaceutical Network, has warned of fake Ciprofloxacine® 500 and 750mg tablets (batch number 150806) in circulation in Cameroon. The products do not contain any of the stated active ingredient.
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, fake Nalidixic Acid® 500mg tablets (batch number ET082101) were uncovered. The tablets do not contain any of the stated active ingredients either.

The WHO has also warned of fake quinine sulphate tablets (used to treat malaria) in both countries. Laboratory tests reveal that the products do not contain an active ingredient. In Cameroon, the product in question is: Quinine Sulfate 300 mg manufactured in Great Britain, (batch number 10H05) and in the Democratic Republic of Congo: Quinine Sulfate 300 mg (batch number F4387) manufactured in India.
