The Drug Controller and Licensing Office has said that it will intensify inspections with the aim of wiping out fake medicines trafficking. Those who do not adhere to medicine security guidelines will risk losing their license without prior warning. Wholesalers and retailers will be monitored in order to check that they are following existing guidelines. Today, 1,069 Guwahati retail stores are licensed to sell medicines but many of them are selling prescription medicines to patients having no medical prescription.
