On February 10, 2016, the US Customs announced having seized nearly 10,000 fake products worth more than $ 1.6 million at the Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan. Various shipments inspected by CBP
officers during a one-week operation revealed products that infringed the intellectual property rights for many brands. Among the intercepted counterfeit goods, the customs officials have found medical equipment. The products have all been shipped from suppliers located in China.
