The European Commission announced the establishment of new rules to ensure the safety of medicines and to prevent counterfeiting in the region. The regulation which will apply from February 2019 includes measures that will protect citizens from health threats involving fake drugs. Securing the medicine supply chain, authentication and identification of the medicine are at the heart of the new rules issued by the Commission.
