Mozambique faces, like other African countries, the entry of counterfeit or expired drugs in its territory. The authorities have announced that 90 types of counterfeit drugs were discovered in 2015, most of them illegally sold in markets.
To eradicate this scourge, the Ministry of Health has planned to set up pharmaceutical centers in all the provincial capitals for drug registration and control. In early 2016, a laboratory located in Maputo should also open in order to control the quality of medicines.
