3D printers serving thefts of medicines in Switzerland -

The Swiss Freight Forwarding and Logistics Association,

, reported a container theft favored by 3D printing. A container containing drugs had been forced and a huge quantity of the cargo had been stolen. Security seals were counterfeit with a 3D printer and replaced the genuine ones. According to the 3D printer model, traffickers may make fake seals within 10 minutes!

Seals bearing identification numbers are used to avoid infringements of containers and enable traceability between sender and recipient. They have been perfectly cloned. Thus traffickers can steal containers to resell drugs in legal or illicit networks, or to repackage counterfeit drugs in genuine boxes.
