Algeria is preparing a bill to criminalize the counterfeiting

A bill to fight against counterfeit drugs has just been completed and will soon be submitted to the National People’s Assembly of Algeria for adoption. This law will allow for consistency between the various laws already existing and standardize sanctions. The law intends to protect patients and patents.

Laboratories will be made available to Customs to analyze the imported drugs. At the same time, a national observatory will assess local and imported products that may be counterfeit.

Algeria reports having also launched the creation of 80 pharmaceutical production units in the country in order to reduce imports of pharmaceuticals and fight against counterfeiting.
