EXPERT GROUP MEETING TO REVIEW MODEL LAW - Vienna, 8-10 December 2014 -

The IRACM takes part in the 2nd Expert Group Meeting held in Vienna, Austria, for 3 days. This meeting will review draft model legislative provisions to combat fraudulent medicine. IRACM initiated the process last January to develop a model law with UNODC (United Nations office on Drugs and Crime).

Bernard Leroy, Director of IRACM, and Wilfrid Rogé, Director of the Training in IRACM, are respectively rapporteurs for National and International cooperation and extradition and Offences.

A model law to assist the States in fighting counterfeit medicines

The model law is a complete, modern and adapted tool assistance for the governments. It covers all the aspects of a law: the definition, the offences and the prosecutions. From a general point of view, this model law will harmonize laws on a global level. The States will simply need to adjust the text to their legal systems.

ONUDC has already published model provisions and laws on drug control, organized crime, human trafficking, migrants smuggling, firearms trafficking and money laundering, as well as on mutual legal assistance and extradition.
