In Quebec, a young man, 23, appeared to the judge for trafficking of fake medicines -

Alexandre Beaudry, arrested on November, 20th 2013, appeared on Feb. 20 in court following the dismantling of his counterfeit medicines manufacturing plant.

The clandestine lab was located in a warehouse rented by the defendant. Authorities seized over 22,000 tablets of steroids, injectables and enough products to make more than 280,000 tablets of a treatment against erectile dysfunction. Two tablet presses and machinery used to coat tablets were seized.

The authorities stated in a press release that fake medicines looked like the original. Labels let the patient believe that the products are reliable and of high quality, but the actual content is not yet known and therefore potentially dangerous. On the other hand, deplorable sanitary conditions suggested high risk of infection in the case of injectable.
